Ragusa

The city of Ragusa, also called the “City of Bridges” due to the presence of three characteristic bridges that make it possible to bypass natural obstacles and connect the various parts of the city, is the southernmost provincial capital of Italy that stretches across the southern part of the Hyblean Plateau.

The city’s historic center was rebuilt after the 1693 earthquake employing a Baroque style of architecture distinguished by its whimsy and rich decorative elements on arches, columns, capitals and facades.

The city’s historical and artistic importance led to its inclusion in the UNESCO World Heritage Sites in 2002.
