Hyblean Plateau

The Hyblean Plateau, also known as Hyblean Mountains, is located in the southeastern part of Sicily, between the cities of Ragusa and Syracuse.

Mount Lauro, located on the border between the provinces of Syracuse and Ragusa, is the highest peak of the plateau, with an altitude of 987 meters (3238 feet) above sea level.

The Hyblean Plateau borders Catania’s plain in the north, the Ionian Sea in the east, the Mediterranean Sea in the south, and Gela’s plain in the west. In addition to being able to enjoy spectacular views characterized by beautiful rural landscapes, here one can observe the presence of several archaeological remains, which make the area a distinctive location.
